Our Sphynx Breeding Program

My goal is to produce happy, healthy cats that closely meet my interpretation of the CFA Breed Standard, and the breed ideal, as a whole. All my breeding, and retired cats receive cardiac ultrasounds annually. These ultrasounds are given by a board-certified, licensed veterinary cardiologist, to ensure the best accuracy possible for diagnoses of any anomaly of the heart, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a degenerative heart condition inherent in some Sphynx lines. This is a practice that I encourage all breeders to invest in if they are to raise healthy lines. All we can do is our very best by the breed so that you, the pet owner, receive a pet that will live a long and healthy life and provide you with the companionship you desire.

Health Testing and Guarantees

All breeders, and retired breeders, are ultrasounded yearly to ensure the best heart-health possible; a licensed, board-certified veterinary cardiologist performs all ultrasounds; shots for the first year have been given; all kittens are neutered/spayed before placed; sound health is guaranteed; veterinary certificate of sound health is given to you at the time you pick your kitten up; kittens are microchipped

Requirements For Sphynx Kitten Buyers

Skinzin litters are planned and placement homes are carefully selected. All applicants must fill out an application first. My kittens are raised under foot, with all the individual care and nurturing a small cattery is capable of providing.

Retired adults, as well as kittens, are available from time to time.

My concern with heart-health in the Sphynx resulted in my becoming the Key Coordinator for Sphynx HCM Research. We now have a grant for DNA research, and The Winn Feline Foundation is working hard to find the genetic marker for this condition on the Sphynx DNA. We are hopeful that this research will contribute to the elimination of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in the Sphynx Breed through a simple blood test.
